Airline Policy for Passenger's Medical Conditions - Travel Guidelines
General Information
Air travel can expose you to a number of factors that can impact your health and well-being. If you suffer from any underlying health conditions, the effects of flying could be challenging to you.
Airline restrictions on flying
Before planning to fly make sure it is medically safe for you to fly.
Please inform us in advance about any health conditions you have, that may worsen during the flight.
If you think your health might be affected by flying, you should contact your GP or specialist before you book a flight.
Travel by air is not advised in some cases and you may need medical clearance before you are allowed to fly. The airline reserves the right to refuse carriage of passengers in the following cases. Please note, that the list is only a guideline:
- Healthy new-born babies are not prematurely born within the first seven (7) days after birth;
- Women after the 35th week of pregnancy or the 32nd week for multiple pregnancy
- Women who have given birth within 7 days before flight
- If you suffer from or have had:
- angina or chest pain at rest
- an infectious disease (e.g. chickenpox, flu), including COVID-19 (in the last 7 days)
- decompression sickness after diving (sometimes called ‘the bends’)
- increased pressure in the brain (due to bleeding, injury or infection)
- infection of your ears or sinuses
- recent heart attack
- recent stroke
- recent operation or injury where trapped air or gas may be present in the body (e.g. stomach, bowel, eyes, face, brain)
- severe long-term diseases that affect your breathing
- breathlessness at rest
- unresolved pneumothorax (punctured lung)
- sickle cell anemia
- unstable mental health or psychotic illness
- If you have a plaster cast, that has been fitted on any limb for less than 48 hours before the flight, then the cast needs to be split (the split needs to run along the entire length of the cast).
If the plaster cast has been fitted for more than 48 hours there is no requirement for the cast to be split.
In specific cases, according to the airline procedures, before the flight, the crew may request a Fit to Fly certificate or authorization by a doctor. Despite that, upon crew consideration and in the interest of the safety of the flight you might be refused carriage.
If the crew on board considers, that your health condition may worsen during the flight, you will be asked to sign an Indemnity Form, certifying, that you will travel at your own risk.
COVID 19 INFO
Dear passengers,
We look forward to welcoming you on board European Air Charter flights.
As of October 1, 2022, there will no longer be an obligation to wear a mask on flights to and from Germany. However, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) still recommends that all passengers wear a mask at airports and on board, which you are of course free to do.
PRIOR TO TRAVEL:
*To ensure the smooth running of your trip, please familiarize yourself with all current international travel regulations on government websites and organizations.
It is possible that entry into a country to which you wish to travel is not possible or that quarantine measures must be observed upon entry.
*It is your responsibility to ensure you are in good health and fit to fly.
AT THE AIRPORT:
*Keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters from other passengers throughout the airport terminal, on the apron buses and when boarding the aircraft.
*Strictly follow the instructions of the airport and security staff.
ON BOARD:
*When boarding and disembarking keep the possible safety distance according to the instructions of the cabin crew.
*Strictly follow the instructions of the cabin crew
*All toilets are equipped with hand sanitizer for additional disinfection. Please make use of it after using the restroom.
*If you unexpectedly experience symptoms of illness during the flight, please contact the flight attendants immediately
AIRCRAFT:
*All European Air Charter aircraft are equipped with special HEPA filters that continuously clean the air in the cabin and protect it from dust, viruses, and bacteria.
PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION
In this regard the personal data received will be processed in lawful and good faith manner, only for the purposes, for which it has been collected, and will not be additionally processed in a manner, incompatible with its purpose, as well as the necessary technical and organizational measures will be taken for protection of personal data processed against accidental or illegal destruction, or accidental loss, change, not permitted disclosure or access.
FLIGHT CHECK-IN
This also applies to any pets travelling with passengers. Children and infants must also have the necessary documents – passport/card with a passport format photo.
Passenger check-in starts 2 hours before the flight and ends 40 minutes before scheduled departure.

CHECKED IN BAGGAGE
For your own safety and the safety of the flight, do not accept for transportation any items or luggage of third parties.
It is the responsibility of the passenger to take all precautions to ensure that the baggage and its contents are not damaged during transportation.

HAND BAGGAGE
Passengers are only allowed to take small quantities of liquids e.g. toiletries and cosmetics, in their hand luggage:
- These liquids must be in separate containers with a maximum capacity of 100 millilitres
- Passengers must pack these containers in one transparent, resealable plastic bag of not more than one litter capacity per passenger.
- This resealable bag must be presented separately at the security screening check point.
- Medicines and special dietary requirements, including baby food for use during the flight are allowed, but passengers may be asked to prove that they are necessary. Please consider that if you are traveling on a flight with the following transfer flight departing from an EU airport, you may only take liquids on board of your transfer flight, if you have bought them at the duty-free shops at an EU airport or on board of an EU airline, e.g. on a European Air Charter flight. The liquids should be carried in special security sealed plastic bag with a receipt for the purchase for the same day. The bag is sealed at the point of purchase.
European Air Charter kindly requests its passengers when planning their trip to consider these legal constraints and reduce their hand luggage to the essentials. Please consider also that due to extensive security checks at EU airports waiting time may be prolonged.
Pack your electronic cigarettes in your hand baggage
Electronic cigarettes/ e-cigarettes (including batteries) may only be transported in your hand baggage. Transportation in checked baggage is not permitted. Please note however that smoking (including e-cigarettes) is forbidden on board.
DANGEROUS GOODS
- Any types of engines, including also outboard ones (except electric engines)
- Document cases and and high security briefcases with incorporated alarm systems, Lithium batteries and pyrotechnical materials
- Explosives, fireworks, torches, light and smoke signalling items
- Gas containers (for flammable and non-flammable, deep frozen, liquidized or poisonous gases) (for example gas for domestic purposes), filled in pressurized
bottles - Containers with easily flammable liquids, for example gasoline for cigarette lighters or for cleaning, heating liquids, detergents, thinners, varnishes, glues
- Flammable and other easily flammable solid materials, such as matches, substances, self-igniting upon contacting water, self-igniting gases
- Oxidizing substances, for example bleaching powders, super oxide
- Poxidizing substances, for example bleaching powders, super oxide
- Radioactive materials
- Materials causing inflammations such as acids
- Magnetized materials
SPORTING WEAPONS
- Weapons or other items, which can serve as such are allowed for check-in only as baggage to be transported in the aircraft hold.
- The weapons or other items, which can be used as such, must be packed and secured against break and tear (in their original vendor’s packing)
- The fire arms should not be loaded.
MUNITIONS
- It is forbidden to take fire arms munitions in the passenger cabin
- The maximum quantity of munitions allowed for air transport is 5 kg per passenger, loaded in the aircraft hold
- This excludes munitions with exploding or incendiary shells
The munitions must be packed securely in boxes or cartons.
BAGGAGE LOSS OR DAMAGE
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
- Each baggage, including the hand baggage, must have a label, bearing the passenger’s name and address
- You are advised to take the important documents, valuable items and medications in your hand baggage.
- All baggage will be screened. Firearms, sharp or dangerous objects (including lighters, such as Zippo) are not allowed to be carried. This is valid for hand baggage as well as for checked-in baggage. Please take into consideration that your baggage might be checked by hand.
PASSENGER RIGHTS
- In case you are denied boarding, the flight is cancelled or there are at least two hours delay of the flight and you have a valid reservation for, the airline, via its representatives or ground handling agents, will provide each passenger with the relevant information. We will also inform all passengers about their rights for compensation depending on the flight distance and will ensure eligible assistance in line with Regulation/EC/ No 261/2004.

AIRLINE LIABILITY FOR CARRIAGE OF BAGGAGE
Passengers are advised not to carry any fragile or perishable items, items of special value, e.g. money, jewellery, precious metals, precious stones, laptops, cameras, mobile telephones or other electronic devices, securities (share certificates etc.) or other valuables or documents, samples, identification documents, house keys, medications or liquids in their checked baggage. Passengers are again advised to take the above mentioned items in their hand luggage. Should your checked baggage contain any of the items listed in this paragraph, the airline will not be responsible for any loss, destruction, delay and damage to such items. Some airports may have further restrictions on carry-on items. In such cases the airport’s regulations prevail.
Please observe that you should report loss or damage of your baggage immediately at the airport. You can also report the loss or damage in writing later, within the legal notification deadlines. In that case you must prove that the irregularity occurred during your flight.
TRANSPORTATION OF SPORTS EQUIPMENT
Our passengers are granted the comfort to indulge in their favorite sports hobbies during their vacation. We offer each passenger the possibility to transport a one set of sports equipment, listed below /maximum weight of 20 kg/, both for outgoing and return flights. Each subsequent sports equipment/piece/ shall be charged as indicated in the reservation details sent by the Tour operator.

TRANSPORTATION OF ANIMALS/PETS
- If you are flying with your pet, please make sure to observe and comply with the requirements for the health status of the pet and to present the required documents to the border and customs authorities.
- Only dogs and cats of weight up to 8 kg (including the pet container) may be transported in the passenger cabin.
- Allowing only a limited number of pets per flight is in the interest of all passengers on board. The pet must be placed in a leak-proof container, put on the cabin floor during the entire flight. In order to provide the necessary comfort for your pet, the container of maximum dimensions 55/40/23 cm must be bought from specialized stores. It must be lockable and to prevent littering.

- A passenger may carry one pet only. Pet containers, suitable for the transportation of the animal, are not supplied by European Air Charter. You may obtain these in qualified pet shops

SPECIAL ASSISTANCE
- For passengers with reduced mobility, we may reserve seats, to facilitate embarkation and disembarkation, and ensure as much comfort as possible during the flight. Booking these seats, and the seats of an accompanying person is made with prior notice and with no additional charge, provided a disabled person’s card is available.
- Children and passengers with disabilities are not assigned emergency exit seats.
- Families with children under 2 years (infants) are not assigned seats in the first row and emergency exits.
- Passengers traveling with personal wheelchairs shall not be charged additionally for their mobility aid device. Wheelchair passengers are checked in as all other passengers up to 90 minutes before departure. Passengers requiring assistance during embarking the aircraft are provided priority boarding. Please note, that the request for special assistance must be notified well in advance at least 48 hours before the flight.
- Electric wheelchairs with dry batteries are transported, only provided that:
- The connecting cable is disconnected from the battery
- The battery poles are isolated
- The battery is permanently installed on the wheelchair
- Electric wheelchairs with liquid batteries are not transported on board the aircraft for safety reasons
- European Air Charter does not provide Stretcher service (STCR) on board.
- Expectant mothers
- Up to and including the 28th week – no medical certificate is required;
- After the 28th up to the 35th week – a medical flight authorization from a doctor is required;
- After the 35th week, the passenger cannot be accepted for air transportation.
- Traveling by air is not advisable for women who have given birth within 7 days before flight;
- Healthy newborn babies, provided not prematurely born, shall not be accepted for carriage within the first seven (7) days after birth.
CARRIAGE OF CHILDREN AND UNACCOMPANIED MINORS
To avoid damage to their health, we recommend that newborn infants under 14 days old are not carried on flights.
Children under 2 years (babies) travel on the lap of their parent/guardian or person accompanying them. They are not entitled to their own seat.
Children between the ages of 5 and 12 may be carried by Airline without a person accompanying them provided that the Airline is notified in advance and the carriage of
unaccompanied minors (UM) are confirmed by the Airline.
Children between the ages of 5 and 12 are also deemed to be unaccompanied if the person accompanying them is under the age of 16.
The name of the person who will pick up the child at the destination airport must be given at the check-in desk.
The parent/guardian or person looking after the child must wait at the airport until the departure of the aircraft.

CUSTOMS RESTRICTIONS
FOR PASSENGERS TRAVELLING TO/FROM EU COUNTRIES
Pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 1889/2005 of the European Parliament and the current Bulgarian legislation:
- Upon entering or leaving the territory of the EU, individuals carrying 10,000 (or the equivalent in BGN or other currency) or more EUR cash, must declare this amount before the customs authorities.
- Upon entering a non-EU country, individuals carrying 30,000 (or the equivalent in other currency) or more BGN cash, must provide a document from the National Revenue Agency that they do not owe any taxes and they must verify the origin of the money.
- All local or foreign individuals can import free-of-charge:
- Jewelry and accessories made of gold and platinum – up to 60g
- Jewelry and accessories made of silver – up to 300g
- Gold ingots and gold coins – up to 37g
FOR PASSENGERS TRAVELLING TO/FROM NON-EU COUNTRIES
Pursuant to Regulation 918/83 of the EEC, passengers arriving from non-EU countries do not declare imported items of a total value of up to 430 EUR that are not of commercial nature.
Each passenger over 17 years of age is entitled to duty-free import of the following items and up to the listed quantities for personal use:
- Tobacco products
- 200 cigarettes
- 100 cigarillos
- 50 cigars
- 250g of tobacco
- Alcoholic drinks:
-
- alcoholic drinks of more than 22% alc/vol – a total of 1 Litre
- alcoholic drinks of less than 22% alc/vol – a total of 2 Litres
– a total of 4 Litres of non-sparkling wine
– 16 Litres of beer.
Each combination of tobacco products, alcohol and alcoholic beverages for each passenger, excluding non-sparkling wine and beer, cannot exceed 100% of the total percentages of each accepted amount.
For drugs, the quantities must match the personal needs, and the passengers should keep their customs declarations until the next border crossing.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE SUBJECT TO PROHIBITION, RESTRICTIONS OR SPECIFIC CONTROL:
- weapons, ammunitions, and explosives
- strong or poisonous substances
- drugs, narcotics, or psychotropic substances
- protected species of animals or plants, according to the Washington Convention
- items of historical, archaeological or art value
The import of products of animal origin, unless they have been presented for veterinary inspection by a border inspection post, is banned for the countries of the European Community. This is related to the threat of foot-and-mouth disease and other infectious diseases of livestock. For more information, see Regulation of 01 May 2009 of the European Commission.

The currency of the Republic of Bulgaria is the Bulgarian lev (BGN).
